In inquiry circles we are reading Underground to Canada.

Underground to Canada is a book written by Barbra Smucker.  It is  about a young girl named Julilly who lives in Virginia on the Henson plantation with her mother but then one day is sold to a slave trader who treats her very poorly.  She then decided she needed to get away from this man’s plantation so she risks her life to try to make to the northern land where all people were free called Canada.  I am just beginning this book and I am only where she is sold the slave trader but I think this book will really make me think and be grateful for everything I have.  I will be giving updates on where I am in the book each week on this page and other posts.
