This cartoon is depicting two leaders debating what Canada’s new flag should look like and what the new country of Canada should include because it has has the seperate schools and the dual languages underneeth the mixture of flags all joined together signifying a new country. I think the artist is in favour of confederation because the leaders look like they know what they are doing but in cartoons that are non-favouable of confederation the leaders in the comics look like they have no clue what they are doing. This is what I think the message is and where the artist stands on confederation.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close Movie Impact

For an extra post for our blogs our class had to write about a movie that had an impact on us and explain who the target audience was and how it appealed to the target audience. I have decided to write about Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is definitely a movie that has had an impact on me because it was about a boy who’s dad died in 9/11 and he finds a key in his dad’s closet a year after his death, so he goes on a mission to see who the key belongs to. This movie had an impact on me because it shows that no matter how afraid you are of something if you face your fears great things can come out of it. I think the target audience of this movie was for anyone 12 years old and older because to understand this movie you have to understand 9/11 and its impact. The movie appealed to this audience because they made the main character a young boy so it spoke to the entire audience, where as if they had an older person playing this character it probably wouldn‘t have had the same impact that it did on viewers like me.

Always coming, always going.

Something new, in a week it’s old.

Ever changing, never staying.

Trends are only good until they’re gone.

Fishnet stockings, hacky sack, Rubik’s cube are just a few.

They all have come and gone with age,

Just like life, all things change.

Our world is full of many things,

Most of which will not stay for long.

Records to ipods, world books to Google.

Worldly things will always change.

One thing that’s for sure,

Is we will all see the end,

When none of these trends will matter.
