Embarrassing Misfortune

            Sam Smith lived in a quiet town known by the name of Woodward, the town with no grocery store.  Due to the fact they had no grocery store they had pretty much nothing else in the town either so it was a very boring place to live.  The town would have been non-existent years ago if they didn’t have the school around which was the only thing keeping the town alive.  Woodward Public School was the pride of the little community.

            One day the school’s only sponsors, two old, married teachers Mr. and Mrs. Crosby came to see if they were making a wise decision by sponsoring the school.  The principal of Woodward, Mr. Harris showed the retired teachers what a wonderful investment they were making.  Everyone was on their best behavior, but even the greatest of schools has their problems.  Woodward Public School’s problem had two names, Mike Smith and Devon Johnson.  They were the only issue with Woodward and everybody knew it so they kept their distance and hoped they wouldn’t be their next victim.  However on the day of the walkthroughs luck was not on Sam Smith’s side.

            Sam was a pretty nerdy kid with braces and big, thick, black rimmed glasses and everything else you get in the package when you buy the costume for Halloween.  Everyone was very surprised that he hadn’t got picked on yet but they must have been saving him for a special occasion because that was the day they decided to pick on poor Sam.  It was recess and as usual Sam walked outside and sat on a bench to read his book when the two boys sauntered up to him and started teasing him.  When Sam stood up to ask them to stop they started punching him and then it happened. 

            Sam started fighting back and to everyone’s surprise he was doing pretty good but when he went to push Devon the bully sidestepped and Sam accidently pulled Mike’s pants down.  Everyone was laughing hysterically, except three people, Mr. Harris and the Crosby’s. 

            When Mr. and Mrs. Crosby witnessed the scene that was just displayed before them they were disgusted and were quick to make the decision that they would be dropping the sponsorship. 

            Due to embarrassment Mike Smith is now the only resident living in Woodward, the town with no grocery store.
